Display type
Display type is used primarily for headlines and titles. It is the type that expresses the principle message of the layout. It is supposed to draw the reader's attention and encourage them to continue on and read the body type. Display type is usually larger than the body type and is more elaborate and decorated. It should be easily read from far away. For example, in the flyer on the right, "Earth Day Fest" is bolded and is larger than the body text. It clearly explains the main idea of the flyer and it is easily read from a distance. When choosing a display type typeface, a designer must take into consideration the entire layout. The display type must match the theme of the layout and stand out from the rest of the elements in it's size and decoration.
